At Deltatech Aero, our mission is to design and build high-performance drones from the ground up in South Africa. We believe that buying and operating UAVs in the same country they are designed and built, allows for a more effective and affordable solution for local drone operators.

Based on a farm in the Free State, our new R&D workshop is being set up to expand the size, quality and quantity of products being produced. The facility is being equipped with a CNC machine, 3D printers and all necessary tooling to manufacture, assemble, test and maintain composite airframes and electronics. Having access to a large, unobstructed airspace right at the doorstep of the workshop gives us an ideal testing environment where the time taken for aircraft adjustments and flight parameter tuning is minimized between test flights.
The company was founded in April 2024 by Wits Aeronautical Engineering graduate and licensed drone pilot, Scott Rosslee. Deltatech Aero has produced 3 flying prototypes in just 4 months and is also currently consulting on various aeronautical and mechanical projects while still developing the core engineering behind its products. The company's aim is to start producing high-quality, low-quantity aircraft that satisfy unique industry needs as well as providing cost-effective, local support and maintenance to the operators of these aircraft.
We are currently developing a number of different aerial platforms which include large and small multirotors, a 12kg VTOL and an economical fixed-wing aircraft. All products have fully autonomous modes, geo-fencing and return-to-launch capabilities and are integrated with a handheld ground station with a live HD video feed and telemetry data for a range of up to 30km.
This heavy-lift drone is capable of carrying hard-mounted or slung loads of up to 18kg with a maximum endurance of 24 minutes with a standard 8kg payload. It can be operated in light rain and winds up to 20km/h and be easily dismantled into a hiking backpack in 3 minutes. The Mantaray currently has over 8 hours of harsh flight tests where weaknesses in the design are being identified and corrected.
A small, compact FPV drone with 12kW of lifting power. With a unique custom built carbon fiber airframe, this high-speed coaxial drone is perfect for mounting a multitude of high-end filming cameras and gimbals up to 7kgs and filming subjects up to 140km/h.
